Fishing at Owens(upper - central CA.) great!

Towed my 17' alum. boat up to Owens(Upper) just north of Bishop - 4.0 Jeep did great!,stayed at Toms with 2 buddies, 85 deg.day, 30 deg. at night! brrrr and we were in tents! Went to Crowley and it sucked! We troller for a few hrs., and fish finder was showing lots, I got one hard bite and that was it, water was low too. The Owens was awesome! Caught 8 this a.m. and had to pull myself away to leave. . Anyone going there and towing, I would suggest not going thru Yosemite 9000' +, I did on way out and a bit "harrowing" , go thru Tahoe/80 to 395, 30-40 mi. more for me, but quicker. Heinz, what did you catch? I'd like to hear you caught a few 8-10 pound Browns.<br /><br />The Sacramento river Salmon run has doubled last years fish count. The wife caught a 42 pound King last Saturday. Sunday, we went bass fishing (to much salmon) she smoked me again with two back to back 5 pounders.<br /><br />She said I should play hookey from work this week and try for some Stripers before they head back down to the Delta. A 50 pounder was taken below Chico a couple of weeks ago.

Hey there, we caught only rainbows, one of the prettiest fish around in my opinion. We were avaraging 10-14 inchers prob. 1.5 lbs. I caught 8!!!! in about an hour at a bend in the river. Boy that was fun! Ate trout every night! Let the stripers come to the Delta!! I live in Concord .<br />I take my boat out there, some great spots to launch. What are you using for bass lures? Thats great your wife fishes with you, wish I could get mine to. Wow 42 lb King??? I was up in Alaska last summer(to early) for first King run, buddies wife got a 50 lbr. on the Kenai, trolling, we were all in same boat and she got only one. Got some great 45lb halibuts and a whole lot of Dollie Vardens, and reds(salmon).<br /> heinz.forster@copart.com

The bass were caught on Gitzits.<br /><br />The Steelhead are starting to show up now. The count is up at the Redbluff diversion dam.<br /><br />There should be more then enough Stripers right now in the Delta for you. DFG is planning to increase the slot for White Sturgeon also. The Sturgeon fishery is doing great. They are planning to increase it from 4-7 foot instead of the 4-6ft as it is now.<br /><br />I read a recent article that bottom fishing off the coast is going to be closed indefinately.<br />This might mean more pressure on the Salmon <br />again. <br /><br />bachelor@stormnet.com
