Fishing along our rocky shoreline for striped bass has been super. Stripers have settled in since the middle of May. There have been plenty of mackerel in the inner and outer harbor. The mac's have been around a lot longer then normal. They usaully are gone in the first two weeks of June, pushed out by the bluefish. Very few bluefish around at the moment.
With plenty of bait fish, sand eels and herring around bluefin tuna fishing has been good for some rod & reel fishermen. Some of the harpoon boats have been doing well too. There are boats that already have 9-12 fish since June with prices from 6-12 bucks a pound. Commercial boats are allowed 3 fish per day over 73 inches long. Sport boat fishermen are allowed one fish under 47 inches, over 27 inches per day these are what we call footballs and only one trophy fish per year.
Flouder fishing has made a great come back, they were scarce for a few years. you are allowed 8 fish per day per person.
