Here it is the second week in May up here on Cape Ann and the fishing season is just getting under way. The schoolie stripers have arrived in the Annisquam River. Catching the schoolies on a fly makes for some good fishing. Big fish in the 30-40lb. class should be arriving within the next week along with the mackerel. By the first of June the stripers migrating from the Cheasapkee will be settled in for the summer.
Deep sea fishing for cod and haddock had opened on April 16th and the fellas have been filling there coolers when they can get off shore. There is a ten fish cod limit per person and you can keep all the haddock you can catch over 19 inches.
