I had asked the question about finding free fishing maps online which i guess there arent many, so i guess im gonna have to break down and buy one. Anyone have any suggestions about a good fishing map, i know my wal-mart has the "fishing hot spot" map, anyone think these are good/bad or? i couldnt find a publish date so this map could be 10yrs old or updated last month. I have gone to local fishing shops and asked them and that advice is ok but want to try the map.

Re: fishing maps

Garmin has a great series of US Recreational lakes and blue chart maps. They are available on either a cartridge for your (garmin) chart plotter or (and much much) better in CD form that you can run on your computer and afterward down load into your cartridge with a trip that you have plotted at home on your computer.

If you're on the gulf side, Go to texas-offshore.com Sign up for a free membership and check out the "supermap" section. It covers the entire gulf, you can layer the map with depth contours, rigs, semi-submersibles, water temp, etc etc. It's the best free map I've been able to find, and I've been looking for awhile.
