I've got a bunch of spinning reels that I need to clean and regrease in a hurry. I used to be able to find "reel grease" almost anywhere. Now I can't find it anywhere. No time to look any further. Can I use any grease...such as lithium or wheel bearing grease? I can't see why not, but I thought I'd pose the question.

I've used the white lithium grease on reels with good results. Wheel bearing grease is of a diferent nature. You would have to pack the inside of the reel case, as you do a wheel bearing...just a thought :)

Dont use the regular grease, It is too thick and when cold you wont hardly be able to turn the handle. Reel greeses are normally mostly silicone.

I have in a pinch taken a small amount of regular grease and added a couple drops of a light oil like 3 in one, or your wifes sewing machine oil and mixed it up and used that, only problem is that it will eventually separate and run out around the seems. Actually, gun grease will work well also.

Professional reel maint shop here uses wheel bearing grease thinned with a little 3 in 1 oil. Satisfied customers and charges plenty. Valvoline blue I think.

I've been using SuperLube. It's a light grease w/ teflon. It seems to be working.
It comes in small tubes.

Yea LD I don't think you guys have too many distributors out by you which is a shame for such a good product line.

..one thing you could do is ask one of the local shops to bring in the products.. the FP-10 lubricant/protectant they have is another winner in my opinion also..

..but, you're the 'LubeDude' here ;)
