2000 Merc 200hp carbed engine. Can anyone tell me why an engine will want to shutter and stall at very low rpms (700-1000) but run fine from 1000-1800 rpms, then want to stutter and die @ 1850-2000, unless you come off the throttle or give it more to get past 2000rpms. Past 2000 it runs fine, gets up on plane and runs well. It seems to have most of its problems just barely in gear. Can i adjust the idle up a little??? If so can you breifly tell me where the screw is and is there only one? I believe the problem can be traced to the primer bulb because it is hard to start unless you put the throttle in neutral and push it forward so that when you turn the key, it FIRES right up fast, then take it out of neutral. It seems once you have forced the gas through the engine and reved it...it will idle forever out of gear. Put it in gear....just barely and it wants to stall??? I have a fishing tournament tomorrow...is there anything i can do at the dock tomorrow for a temporary fix????? Like upping the idle for the day????
