fitting above gearcase

on my 1985 140 theres 90 degree a fitting just above were the lower unit bolts together. rite below the tilt/trim but on the lower unit.

Hey Tony....<br /><br />That's probably a speedometer fitting. Look down along the leading edge of the lower unit and you should find a little hole. This is the pick up hole. Some guys use them and some don't. They tend to plug easy.<br /><br />Hope we've helped....thanks.

so it should be plugged if not in use?I have a water presure gauge.it reads 15lbs at 5500.is it more accurate than my gps?

Nothing is more accurate than GPS for speed readings...

hello<br /> yep its a speedometer fitting. if its not capped and the tubes are not plugged it keeps things soaked with water. I lost your email but laid my hands on all the stuff<br /> good luck and keep posting
