Fix My Tilt/Trim or Get a CMC Unit?

Guys, I have a 2000 Johnson 50HP on an 18' Duracraft aluminum boat and my tilt/trim unit doesn't work. I've done my research and I need to get a new motor for it along with some of the plugs.

My question is, all of this is going to cost around $200, so should I buy these parts and hope it works or just buy a nice CMC unit that I found locally on Craigs List for $200? I have the tools so I can just install it myself.

I just use the boat to cruise around the lake during the summer.

Here are some pics of my boat if anyone's curious.

Thanks!

I would repair the OEM PT&T, Fish.

The CMC units don't have a seperate, low speed trim. They operate at one speed all the way, making me call them tilt/no trim units. They also give you about a 6" setback, that could present a problem on some boats or be an advantage on others.

I found that made it very hard to find the sweet spot when trimming for best operation on plane at various cruising speeds.
