I read somewhere, not on here, that you could take a dremel tool and do some grinding to a worn clutch dog to make things all square again and it would fix it for a long time. has anyone ever done this or heard of doing this? Well, I figure what the heck, so I tried it and got everything put back together. I am going to wait till tomorrow to fill the lu with oil, and then hopefully try it and see if it worked.

Re: fixing a clutch dog with a dremel??

My uncles old 15hp evinrude ran for hundreds of hours with a clutch dog and gear that I reground. All a person stands to lose by trying is the time and materials needed to reasemble the LU. Not that it really applies here, but I've gotten more bales out of the dog clutch on my round baler since I had to regrind it that what it lasted from new. (4200 bales on new clutch before it wouldn't hold, 6800 bales since regrinding it).
Goodluck, I hope it works for you.
