Fixing cracked trim arm

Hello forum. First post. I have a 115HP Blueband Mercury outboard with trim tilt. One of the oil lines where it attaches to the arm has a crack in the cast metal thread. It's previously been bogged up. I took the bog off and have new lines coming but I was wondering if anyone knows a good way to seal this once I put on a new cable. I don't want to have to buy a new trim arm. It's the smaller (what I believe to be the return oil line).

Welcome to iboats.

Boy, you have a real pickle there, you could try welding it but I don't know if that will work or not, if you had the peice that chipped out you might get away with it, without the peice I don't know.

You would have to weld it the redrill and tap it, pretty hard without filling the entire hole which you can't do.

Last resort would be to install the new line and JB Weld the crap out of it, it could hold or not, I would get it in but not real tight and let the JB set for a day or 2 then try to tighten it alittle, that is a really bad spot to break.

I do not understand the problem. If the threads in the trim cylinder are bad (happens a lot), you either need a new (used) trim cylinder or you may be able to drill, tap oversize and install a brash flush bushing, to restore the threads for the hydraulic lines.

Hey thanks for thr replies. Yeah it's tricky place to break. I don't know how the previous owner managed to do it. I wished I had the broken off bit so I could try and get it re-attached. Ahh well if all else fails I guess i'll have to see if i can find another one at a boat wrecker.
