I have a 1954 Johnson 5.5 that started making an awful sort of clicking noise. I am thinking it's probably a rod knock. So my question is, are replacement connecting rods still available? Is it possible to switch over to pin bearings in here?
Next question, is there any gaskets between halves of the crankcase? Parts diagrams suggest not.
Also, I figured as long as I'm at this I should replace rings. Are these still available also?
I have a good dealer in town that has been good at getting me parts for this so far. So any OMC p/n's or alternate aftermarket p/n's would be great also.
And yes, I know I mixed the oil too light causing this issue. But I know what I did and am looking to fix it.
thanks guys.
