Flamer Thrower II Coil question (0.6 ohm)

I put in a new Ignitor II distributor last year in my 1988 5.7 Cobra OMC. I did not switch to a new coil and plan to at the beginning of this year. My question is, it has been suggested that I use Pertronix Flame Thrower II coil with the Igniter II that is installed in my boat. From the best I can tell all Flamethrower II coils are 0.6 ohm. Will this be unacceptable for my application? I have replace the spark plug wires and the distributor came with a new cap. I have removed the resistor wire as the ignitor II calls for 12 volts. Thanks for your help.

It will work fine, just make sure you get the epoxy filled one that is listed for marine use. Probably costs an extra couple bucks over the oil filled one. I highly recommend MagStar marine wires. I have this combination on my boat and love it. Easier starts and no points to change.

I am running the flame thrower coil. Mine came with the resistor to run with it. I get good performance out of it.

Great. So just to re-iterate, 0.6 ohm at 12 volts will not cause a problem with the ignitor II distributor or any other components? I will make sure to get an epoxy filled coil. Thanks!

I run the flamethrower too. The box said DO NOT use a resistor. Running 12volt directly to the coil and the igniter.
