Flapper valve

1974, merc, 302 V8, 188, MR out drive.<br />Removed leg for total rebuild, found rubber covered plate in exhaust port looks like the front half of the sole on your shoe. Question is are there two, one for each side of the v8 or is there one main at the join of the Y pipe. Will I need to remove engine to replace?

There are 2 flappers on each valve and a valve in both exhaust pipes

Ayuh,....... More than likely,........ I Doubt you'll have enough Room otherwise........<br />

<br /><br />The Flappers are part # 30 in this pic......<br /><br />With the Ford 3 pc. Y-pipe,.... They're located At the junction of the 2 Downpipes......
