Pay close attention to what Bondo has said.
The 'installed height' of the piston can be different, they 'could' be a direct replacement, but then again, they 'could' be way different.
To get a rough idea of the difference, set one of each pistons ON their head next to each other and look very closely at the connecting pin location, if they are the exact same height then the flat top would make more cyl pressure than the dished piston as the dish will add volume to the compressed area.
This difference 'may' be recovered using a thicker head gasket.
It will save you a LOT of time and effort to use the correct parts as the factory has already done the engineering.
Not saying that it can't be done, just why bother, running on the water is NOT very forgiving if your motor isn't 'right'.
