Flickering Eagle 502C

My Eagle GPS/Fishfinder started flickering a few weeks back. What seems to be happening is the brightness is going from max to min on its own. When this happens, the GPS display is rendered useless. The fishinder works, the GPS speed works, but the GPS doesn't display anything. I thought at first it may be bad wiring, so I replaced all the wire from the battery to the unit. Same problem.

Any ideas? It's only about 4 years old - I hate to think I need to replace it already.
