hello to all. need some help rebuilding the carbs on my 1990 90hp force. bottom carb was leaking ,middle carb spitting a little, one carb had sticking needle.. got everything clean and blown out. what exactly is the float adjustment.on the carbs. my seloc manuel calls for 3/16 from bottom of carb. everything i find says float should be parallel with carb bottom. which is correct. and what exactly is the fuel recirculation system , and how do you clean that. so far nothing has been set or adjusted properly. thanks for any help.

Year and model # if you have it?
3/16 is the float drop.
The float should be level when the carb is turned upside down.

"middle carb spitting" that sounds like the reeds might be bad??
While the carbs are off, inspect and see if they are broken, missing, bent??

The "recirculation system" ??
Stbd. side of the motor just before the fuel pump is a long dog bone shaped cover.
That's the main part of the system.
It comes in 2 pieces, and it could have screens and reeds(find a parts diagram)
The system brings back unburned fuel into the fuel pump.
The reeds and screens can carbon up stopping the flow and cause poor running and excessive fuel use.

The BAD: the screens are hard to find.
Before you take yours apart make sure you have the replacements.
No replacements?? then Mercury's Power Tune will dissolve the carbon on the screens, soak them in the liquid..
Might take a while BUT!! If the screens aren't savable? just run with out.
