Was able to free up fuel pump inside VST by filling it with solvent. It did free up but when I pump the ball gas comes out. Is there a float in these like a carb? 96 150 EFI. Book arrives next week. Is there a way to free up the float without taking it apart?

Re: float in VST?

G,day. Yes the VST does have a float, just like a carby. Try removing the brass screw in the bottom of the VST and drain all the fuel. The give the primer bulb a few good squeeses and get some fresh fuel in past the needle valve. Refit the screw and pump up the bulb. If this doesent work then the VST will have to be stripped. It appears that you may have picked up some stale fuel. Be carefull with the solvent. the electric fuel pump likes good clean fuel, water and some additives, including some solvents can ruin the pump.

Thanks, I might have already ruined the pump by soaking the VST with carb cleaner. The float needle seemed to free up but I'm going to try to run the engine today to check on the pump. T
