Float issue?

Gents,

I have a 1989 Johson 8 hp with carb issues. When the engine is running ?rough?, gas is steadily coming for the hole in the Carb in the attached picture. When I disconnect the fuel line the gas over flow stops and the engine runs great? Does this sound like a stuck float in the open position to you? If not, what do you think?

Also, I don't have a manual for this motor. Where can I get instructions for adjusting the float?

float maybe just snagging

did you open things up and check inside. don't start adjusting thing just yet. get rid of the obstruction try blowing air in fuel inlet ... maybe just a small obstacle stopping the needle from closing shut when the float comes up filling the carb bowl to overflow.

just fixed my snowblower with same issue and get this .upon checking the carb everything was fine except there was no seat for the needle to rest against anymore!!!!i can only surmise that over time it rotted to oblivion.replaced and presto, alls good.
