float level question.

Hello all. New to forum. I recently rebuilt my carburetor on my mercruiser 3.0 (2008 mercarb TKS 2 barrel), got it back together, put it on, runs good. When I set the float levels for float drop etc. I went by the shop manual and set to specifications..ok no problem. But tonight I found a supplemental to the shop manual for the TKS carb, which gives different specifications for float drop etc. My question is if it runs ok, do I need to go back in and re-adjust the float level and could I harm my engine if I don't re-adjust it. It seem with current setting, float will seat early causing a lower fuel level in bowl. The drop is also set to drop lower than TKS specifications. Thanks in advance.

My $0.02 cents worth, if it is running great, let it alone. Obviously the fuel level in the carb is providing enough fuel at all RPM ranges or it wouldn't run well. So my opinion, leave it alone and happy boating. JMHO

Thanks for the response. I would expect the float could cause flooding, surging, etc, but I became concerned when I started reading about possible lean condition at higher engine speeds. I know that lean could cause damage to piston heads, spark plugs and such. So I decided to ask here to see if any concerns. I figure I can watch engine temp, and maybe pull the plugs after a few runs to verify that all is well.

Well is sounds like you are stilled concerned. So if it isn't that hard to remove and reset the float, then do it so you won't be wondering anymore. Peace of mind is nice to have. JMHO
