I have rebuilt my carbs about a month ago. i have fuel spraying out of the bottom carb vent. I read in a different post that if this is happening it is a stuck float. how do i know and how do i fix this?

Re: float sticking?

Duff that doesn't always mean a stuck float, it could be dirt (knocked loose from the inside of a fuel line when it was serviced before) if you have a stuck float it will usally come loose by tapping the float bowl with a screwdriver pull the carb and pressure test it is the best way to tell the problem

Re: float sticking?

if fuel is coming out when engine running it could be a bent leaf or foreign object jamming leaf open

I have a 91 Sunbird with a 4.3L OMC. I was out this past weekend and it ran great for a couple of hours and now it won't idle. I think the float is sticking as the gas continues to flow after the engine is dead. I tap the carb and it stops. I let it dry out and it will crank and run great as long as I am at a high RPM but when I slow to an idle it loads up again. Assuming you think it is the float - how do I adjust or check it?

Second question is that I have a small amount of water in my tank. I took off the water separator and it had about an inch of water in it. On top of it it seems as though I have something in the water that kind of looks like the slim you find in a fish pond.

Got any ideas? I need the help. Thanks
