Could someone post a pic of what the float on the carb looks like on a '84 evinrude 35hp 2 cycle. I took the carb apart and cleaned it, but im scared i may have put the float in upside down.

Re: float

I put my float upside down on my 5hp, and it didn't hurt anything , but obviously the motor wouldn't run right.

Re: float

when you are looking at the installed float you should see the tab facing you.

Re: float

Pin the float with the tab hanging down. That is part of the float travel.

Looking the float i will have a flat side , the other side will have in indent, the ident goes downward toward the float boal.

The indent is to clear the orifice cavity in the carb bowl.

ALSO, there is a little tab that bangs up against the float valve to limit the amount that it will drop down. If upside down it would be free to hinge way down.

Re: float

It seems like common sense would tell you to put the indented side toward the bowl. Im sure thats what i did. I dont want to have to take it apart again, what a hassel. Thanks everyone!
