1995 mercury 115hp 2+2 here. i have come along way with this motor but still have some things to figure out.

Went out for a ride last night with some friends, we tried to test out the new boat for some wakeboarding which didnt go as planned.

when i get the boat to jump into 4 cylinders under load (nose in air, not on plane, just to circle around) and bring it back down quickly to allow time to grab the rope, the motor wants to shut off. it did shut off once and was a bit difficult to crank back up but i went ahead and gave it a full test run with the wakeboarder riding behind. After taking him on one run ( which was a pretty awesome wake for an 18' boat might i add) the motor shut off when i repeated the senerio mentioned above to pick him up again. this time it smelled like it was flooded, i had to let it sit about 2 min to get it started again. i had to run the s#$% out of the warm up lever to keep it running, then i took off as quick as i could and it ran fine the rest of the night, no more wakeboarding though :(

Doesnt this sound like those 2 carbs are loading up with fuel when i run it hard under load (at a slower speed) and slow down abruptly? What are yalls thoughts?

I'm no expert, but it sounds like your carb has picked up some trash.. do you have a fuel filter on it?

I'm no expert, but it sounds like your carb has picked up some trash.. do you have a fuel filter on it? I had a motor doing the same thing, turned out to be a bad fuel line, rotting from the inside. Between my fuel filter and carbs. Someone said it was due to ethanol in the fuel, dry rotting the rubber.

Hmm. Well I have two filters (before and after fuel pump). Some lines are original, could be issues with them. I'll give it a check. I should probably note that this motor is oil injected so the gas coming through the first filter (clear glass) has no color. But after I get back from a ride, the filter has mixed blue gas in it?? Is this normal?

i have now noticed the motor shuts off when i try to power it on the trailer. again, the bow pointing in the air more than normal but now i am putting a load on the engine. when we were trying to wakeboard, i had 3 people in the back so the bow was sticking up pretty high when i slowed down to pick up the skier. my point being that the motor in both these situations is tiled way down with the carbs facing the sky. could the position of the motor cause it to stall if something is operating improperly. thoughts anyone?

Can someone chime in please? I could not reenact the symptoms ttoday as I ran the bow up and did circles and came back Down to neutral quickly. It did not even hesitate once like it did when I had 6 people. I don't know what to even start checking..

Refer to this link to my Facebook page check out some video I have of the motor running. It has a weird rattling sound coming from the midsection. Also, you can here when we come down to idle a clicking sound coming from the fuel line/primer ball. If I pump the ball it won't click as I'm doing so.
