Bobmoore-I am getting ready to tackle a pretty big job too with transom, stringers, & floor. A really good book to check out is "Runabout Renovations" by Jim Anderson. I actually found a copy at my local library. If you are even considering doing this yourself, it is a great book to check out. It will show you almost step by step. If you do it yourself, it should run you maybe a couple of hundred $$ for everything(that's floor, stringers, and even transom if you had to.) If you do just the floor and your stringers are good, your talking about $100 or less. Good luck!

Several folks have replaced their floor here. Do a search on this forum and the Project Boat forum for some detailed discussion. Search for floor, sole, rot, etc. Even search for chainsaw for some interesting use of tools.

BL...

bobmoore-I just thought of someone else that might help you. His name is Dale Whiteman. He actually wrote a book about replacing boat floors. "How to Replace Boat Floors." Catchy huh?! Any way, try this: "Helendalepublishing.com" & "helendale99@hotmail.com" I emailed him a couple of times and he wrote me back right away..very helpful guy. Of course, he does want you to buy the book ;)

Bob - The guys are right on and I won't have much to add. It is a lot of work but very satisfying when you are done to know that it is the result of your sweat and not your wallet. Do not under estimate the job though. It is not something that you can whip out on a Saturday.

Wether you do it yourself or have someone do it for you I strongly recommend that you do the job right and not try to cut corners - - or - - don't do the job at all.

One final - - Your story is a fine example for not having carpets in a boat at least in areas that that get wet regularly. Takes forever for them to dry out and where water sits rot will soon follow.
