1997 sea Ray 240 deck boat. It had the all fiberglass deck. How in the world do you fix the stringers/bulk head in something like this? I've messed with wood decks before but not fiberglass decks.

I deleted the duplicate topic you started in another forum.

This is the forum you want to use for rebuilding your deck boat

Post some pictures so we can see what you see. Did you take core samples from the stringers/bulkheads and they are rotten? What about the transom?

I don't have pics. I'm looking for a project boat. There is some soft spots in the stern area. Going to go look at it. I guess I always thought boat company's started incorporating composite stringers in late '90's. Too, I was just under the impression that if the sole/deck was fiberglass, you would never have to worry about floor rot/stringer rot due to, well it's a fiberglass floor with drains everywhere.

Unfortunately, abuse and lack of maintenance allow water to get below deck, even a fiberglass deck. If allowed to remain, water below deck recks havoc on the wooden structure that most builders still use to support and form fiberglass.

But soft spots in the deck doesnt sound promising, unless you want a full blown project.

You can take some pix and post them.

Good luck
