Weird! Hard to tell from the picture. waterlogged wood? Foam? I'm not experienced enough to help, but I'm sure someone will jump on this one :)

If there is moisture seeping through your deck, I'd imagine you have problems. My guess is the crack is a seam in the plywood that has busted over time, and the brown liquid is dirty water squirting up from wet foam underneath when stepped on.

I am by no means a boat expert, this is just my guess based on loads of reading and learning on here since I bought my first rotten boat, or two. I'm 3/4 way through a complete rebuild.

DENIAL - An unconscious defense mechanism characterized by refusal to acknowledge painful realities, thoughts, or feelings.

Once enough people who have experience rebuilding boats see your post you'll get the same answer here that you did in the general boating forum. Unfortunately there aren't any "good" explanations for brown stuff leaking from the innards of a boat.

Looking at the positives in this, you've picked the right place to get good advice should you decide to tackle the repairs yourself. It's very doable, and you'll save a ton of cash over paying to have it done by someone else (plus you'll know that it's done right).

Brown stuff coming out of the floor

Not much more info there ^^^, but a few replies......

Hunt: It will help to have a better idea about what the parts & pieces of the boat are called, so a pix makes more sense:

Sounds like it's on the deck (boat floor, also called a sole) along the port (left, looking from the motor forward) side of the boat. So likely this pix is shot over the port gunwale, looking down..
