Flooring over gas tank

I am in the process of putting a new floor in a 1993 Starcraft 17'. The boat had a piece of plywood with what appears to be aluminum supports on the back that was screwed into the stringers and support around the "in-floor" gas tank. The floor and stringers appear to be solid except around this screwed in piece. Can I (or would you guys recommend) that I redo the floor as one solid piece instead of going back with the screw in piece over the gas tank? All of the hoses, lines and connections are are behind the flooring and under the well so there would not be anything I would need to get to under the floor. Unless I would need to remove the whole tank.

You should always maintain full access to the fuel tank. If a problem ever arised where the tank needs to be replaced, you don't want to have to cut your floor up. Just make sure everything is well sealed to avoid future rot issues....
