Well, after coming back from our get together May 17th, I found myself with a truck, a van, aboat, and a camper that had all been splattered and covered with love bugs. You know..leave em on long enough and no paint...
Well, I had heard of a trick using fabric softener sheets to clean with. Just use a light spray of water over everything and then wrap a couple of the sheets around a small sponge or nylon scrubbie pad and wipe away.
I was suspicious..but quickly came to love my new bug zapper sheets. In no time at all, all four items were cleaned..and left with a coating that I have found makes em even easier to clean off next time. Just a few more weeks and they will be gone, but for now I have a new weapon in my arsenal!! ;)

Thanks. Our love bug season is coming up and I'll give it a try too. They get really thick here, especially around the water.

What's a love bug?

Doesn't take too many to make a mess of things. :D

Love bugs were first seen in Texas in 1940, and have spread east along the Gulf Coast and south into parts of Central America.

While they are tasty in the larval form, adult love bugs, especially females, contain a chemical that makes them unappetizing to predators.

Love bugs are attracted to heat emitted from the roadways and auto exhaust.

Love bugs are typically in flight from 10 a.m. to dusk, so motorists traveling at night are less likely to encounter them.

The male stays entwined with the female until he dies. Dedicated little bugger! :D

There are two lovebug "seasons" here... May and September. I hadn't had much traveling to do until the iBoats get together this month, which is when I accumulated the grill fulll of the splattered beasties. Ugh.
