Florida Regulations on Capacity Plate

I recently bought a 1988 "Traveler" 15.5ft boat. I have 2 quick questions. Where do I find the HIN? I know somewhere near the back there is a "imprinted" ID of some kind that starts off like "HP Y062..." Is that it? Also,
we live in Florida and regulation states that "No person may operate a monohull boat of less than 20 feet in length while exceeding the maximum weight, persons, or horsepower capacity as displayed on the manufacturer's capacity plate." Our capacity plate states 4 people, but we've recently added another person that would like to fish with us, brining it to 5 people. Now, the boat is actually a Tri-Hull. So does that regulation still apply or not? Thanks!

Your boat would be considered a mono-hull....

Trihull is just a designation for a particular design such as deep Vee, flat bottom, or semi-V. Your boat is a monohull.

My guess is that the regulation was written this way to exclude pontoon boats. Otherwise the reg could have just been written as "all motorboats under 20 feet".

mono hull is just that, that a single hull. the 4 person is the boat is only designed for 4 people sitting safely in the boat during operation. the capacity is set by United States Coast Guard standards, not the state of Florida. it applies in all states.

I have an older tri hull that I salvaged and rebuilt but when I got the boat it did not have the tag on it. With a few receipts for some glass and a measurement of the boat they called it homade and said I didnt need the capacitey plate.
