Flotation foam, adding

I don't use the old built in fuel tank on my 87 Bayliner Capri, instead of removing it and replacing the space with foam, I was wondering if I could just fill it with that 2 part flotation foam you pour in pontoons? If so where do I get it and how do I figure out how much I need to fill it? I figured I'm not using it, why not fill it with flotation foam.

(I don't need a lecture on using the old built in tank)

How are you planning on getting the foam in the tank? Filler hose? I am not sure you will be able to get enough foam in the tank through the filler hose to fill the tank before the hose became clogged.

The directions say I've got 45 seconds, that's not too bad. I wonder how much I would need? Also would it help with planing out the boat (buoyancy in the rear).

I still do not think you will be able to mix enough fast enough to get it in the filler hose before it expands in there and clogs the filler. I have used this foam before. In my opinion it is fairly thick. Just thinner than a shake. And expands very fast. I really doubt it will help with planing out. As far as how much you would need. I will leave that to a better mathematician Than I to answer.

I can drill a hole in the top of the tank, it's mounted in the boat very solid and I don't want to hack up the boat getting it out. The previous owner drilled through it replacing the floor and its ruined anyway.
