Re: Flowscan - twin motors - one gauge with toggle switch
Hi, my starboard Flowscan GPH always reads, the Port sometimes does not read, intermittent problem, I will assume that I can double the GPH reading to get an idea of the total GPH while I am running etc.
Yes, you can double the Stbd reading for the true usage, but it's always better to fix the offending signal. This is to help you identify if there's a fuel usage problem, such as one engine burning 20% more fuel than the other. It's a good idea to switch between them occasionally while underway to make sure they are burning the same.
Since you have intermittant issues with it, you more than linkely have 1 of two issues.
1) Interruption in either the 12v+ or 12v- signal. When it's NOT working, check the power and ground lead for connections.
2) A dirty or clogged paddlewheel in the sensor. Take the cover off of the housing in the fuel line, clean the screening filter & paddlewheel so it can detect the true fuel flow and reinstall.
My single gauge has an LED readout of "Gallons" used, my question:
Is the "Gallons" used reflecting one motor or both?
One motor. The gauge can only record the info from one sensor at a time. If both engines have been run the same, if the LCD reads 50, it's 100 gallons total.
