Hello all,
What fluid do I need for an older "green" boat leveler trim tab system?
All the markings are missing from the pump unit. Just replaced hoses to each cylinder and looking forward to testing them out.
Thanks.

found on another forum.....is ATF acceptable?
These puppy's haven't been used for who knows how long....
Should I flush the system in some way?

Re: Fluid for boat leveler tabs

Appears ATF is recommended most.
I'm going to get everything flushed out and fill with fresh ATF. I sure hope they work.....Would be nice to have them.
They operated freely when I purchased the boat, but one of the hoses to the cylinder was leaking severely and the leaking cylinder wouldn't deploy all the way. I replaced both of the cylinder to pump hoses. Then resealed the thru hull fittings.

A thunderstorm just came out of nowhere or I'd be out there working.....
I haven't driven the boat with working tabs..it will be nice.

Pretty much any oil will work in a hydraulic system....I have 10w-30 in my trim system.

atf or power steering fluid
motor oil is a little too thick for the hydraulic pump
