What kind of fluid goes into the tilt in the motor pump. Put my boat in the water today and the motor doesn't go up or down.

Re: fluid ????????

Bill, It helps to know if it's an outboard or sterndrive, Volvo or Merc, year, model, etc. Your info is not enough for anyone to help you.

Re: fluid

Short of putting in the proper BRP TNT fluid, you can use ATF DEXRON III.

Can you hear the TNT motor running when a button is depressed? If not, your problem is likely electrical, not hydraulic.

Re: fluid

What do you mean by the proper BRP TNT fluid? Is that the kind it's supposed to take??
I think I have a leak in one of the gaskets because there was no fluid in it.

Re: fluid

If there was no fluid at all, you have a fairly serious leak. Fill it up then cycle it to locate where you are losing fluid.

BRP= Bombardier Recreational Products, they are the new owners of Johnson/Evinrude from OMC. Just meant that it is the OEM fluid that you would get from your local dealer. If one is not close to you, use the ATF Dexron III available almost anywhere.
