:mad:ok, so i was in a hurry and after reading somewhere on the net (came from a proclaimed yama tech) that you can flush your motor out with the hose attachment while the motor is running at idle as long as there's enough h2o pressure to make it pee, i did. i know, i know, but i did. ran for about 5 mins. how will i know if i f-ed it up?

Re: flush help

When you put it back in the water and it doesn't pee, you'll know.

Chances are if it was peeing while you flushed it you'll be ok. The part that gets hurt is a rubber impeller in the lower unit and when its ran dry the rubber heats up and degrades.

Re: flush help

The hose attachment is for flushing with the motor NOT running.

If you want to flush it running you should use ear muffs.

Anyway, I don't think 5 minutes could've hurten the engine badly.

Re: flush help

Both my Yamaha and Honda says not to run the engine while using the hose attachment, so why would yo do that? You may be ok this time because of the short time. Don't always believe everything you pick up off the net.
