What exactly get's flushed when you pump water into the little flush hole on the upper driveshaft housing? I pulled the plug screw and it was caked with sand and crud in there. After cleaning it there is a good size hole going up towards the power head and a tiny hole in the bottom of the screw hole. Just curious.

Thanks,

Re: Flush hole, 1973 7.5 HP

Hey Dawg, I've researched it alot to figure out what it was for because mine has a "wash plug" too. There is an optional flush plug for my model that you screw in, connect a garden hose with a hose clamp, and wash out the motor after use in salt or polluted waters. You're not suppose to run the motor when doing it and you are to remove the adapter and replace the plug (screw) when your done. I think some of the modern ones, at the cowl, are left in place and you can run the motor at idle speed. Thats all I know. Rick
