When I shut off engine and tilt the engine up, I unscrew the garden-hose connector from thefitting on the bottom cowling(salt water model), I have an uneven flow of water from each engine. I replaced the water pump last year. The boat does not run hot and no alarms go off. Iwas told I may need new thermostats. The boat runs perfect. What could be the cause ofthis restriction?

leave the engines down and dont run them when using the flush attachment. find a reputable yamaha dealer that doesnt shirk regular service items such as thermostats.

Ben is right on this one, the garden hose attachment was designed for folks who sling their boat and rinse the powerhead only moderately. The thermostats won't open and parts of your motor won't get rinsed. Also, when using the rabbit ears on the lower unit, be aware that the water grate may need to be removed, as the mounting screw is in a block in the center of the grate, right where the water is injected and may causea serious reduction in available water to the motor.
