I want to winterize my 2001 carbed 5.7l Merc. I was wondering how to get antifreeze into the raw seawater side?? Do people fill a bucket with antifreeze and immerse the sterndrive in it or is there an easier/cleaner way??

Sounds goofy but the easiest way I have found is a set of muffs hooked to an old bilge pump in a bucket of rv antifreeze.

Or you could just drain the water out of it. Air doesn't freeze at any temp in nature.

How can I be sure that all water is out of the system?

First, you level the engine. then take the plug out, then probe the hole with a piece of stiff wire to make sure the hole isn't plugged up.
Works like a champ, and no antifreeze all over the place and no cost to you.
