I was out on the water all day today, and when it came to flush out my motor. I hooked up the earmuffs, and started the engine. I assumed my wife turned on the water but she didnt. I then quickly turned off the motor and turned on the water. Then, I noticed my motor was idling up and down, and saw the muffs were barely on, but the water was flowing through is pretty well. So, I adjusted that, but my concern was overheating. I gave it gas, and everything was flowing great. I am a worry wart, and like my things to last. I felt the motor and it was warm to the touch, and the shaft of the motor was pretty hot. Is there something I should be worried about?

p.s. the motor ran without water for about 5 seconds.

No not for five minutes you shouldn't have hurt anything. My only concern is, impellers don't like to be ran dry. So keep an eye on peepee hose to make sure when you start it in the water, that no more than 10 seconds goes by before it starts pumping on it's own.! Good luck.

like monte said....keep an eye on the pee hole, if it looks the same, all should be ok.

Yes, I doubt much damage was done in 5 seconds.

BTW, the hole where the water comes out is called a "telltale". ;)
