Got zero replies in the JonnieRude section.I flush my 1995 150hp Ocean Pro after each use through the pisser adapter with the motor off.Do the thermostats close the flow of fresh water to the power head after they cool from the flushing????Is there any advantage to running the motor while flushing????The manual states that it can be done either way.Charlie

The guy who sells flushers on ebay states that the water pressure opens the thermostat. If you think about it, this makes sense as the water is flowing from the pisser, thru the pump and out the water intake.
For the same reason, the Tohatsu rep. firmly states that running the motor while feeding water thru the pisser is a no-no.

So what's the ebay site with these flushers?

And has anyone out there actually used one?

And did it work?

You can buy the parts anywhere if the pisser on the motor is adaptable.I picked up the quick connect male and female end for $2 at home depot garden hose dept. The marine stores sell the same parts for $15.You remove the pisser adapter with a SPARKPLUG socket and screw a male quick connect in and then attach the female end of the quick connect to the garden hose and snap them together.Thats it!!! The only difference I could see between the home depot parts and the marine store is the amount of threads on the male end are at least doubled that of the home depot parts thus making it stick out further. This did not matter in my case but I assume it may matter in certain applications. If it does not matter I think I will buy some of these at HD and put them on ebay and make a few bucks.Charlie

Thanks Charlie

I'll examine my motor and make my own. Just hope it really works, because here in the Med salt is SALT!

I believe on johnson engines, the book says you can run the engine on the tell tail flusher. I've done it on a couple of 90 HP motors, a 1999, & a 2000.

My manual also says it's OK to run on the telltale hose adapter. I've done it.

On my engine, if I just connect the water (engine cold), nothing much happens. If I then start it for a minute, then shut it down, the water then flows out the lower unit.
