Sorry to keep asking so many little questions, but my brain just wont shut off... And yes, I try to search before I ask anything....
Seems like every spare 10 minutes throughout my evenings I meander out to the garage, pick up my sander or wire brush and get to work...no hesitation, just pow!...mask, glasses, begin!
So...I have my boat flipped over and am sanding down all of the oxidation and crap that was on the bottom... first using either 80 or 100 paper, and a wire brush to get the seams and rivet head areas... along with the bumps, gouges, and scrapes...which are a plenty on this old hog.
As I am in the final stages of getting her all cleaned up, from center line to waterline rib...(waterline rib to gun wale will be painted) my confusion has start to set in.
I plan on keeping the entire bottom and sides bare aluminum, as I stated earlier, with a nice polished shine. I am a very detailed and patient person so don't knock me!
Plus, she isn't going to be ready for water till next year...
I think I have a good handle on how to fix the old rivets I had to drill out of the bottom of the boat. Thanks everyone for that.
I also plan on cleaning the inside with a nice bath, and some power washing with a respectable cleaning solution, TBD.
My question is.. Should I apply any type of seam sealant to the center line hull rib on the outside like a GluvIt to ensure a nice seal?
Or should I focus more on applying that type of sealant to the inside, since I am going to paint the inside anyway?
On the inside I planed on the following steps: GluvIt to seams, Self etching primer, primer, paint, 2nd coat of paint.
