I'm replacing the coupler and disc brake calipers on my 10 year-old Four Winns trailer. I want to flush the lines as part of this process. I've done a forum search, but haven't found my situation. What's the best way to evacuate the old brake fluid from the lines?

Remove the lines from the brake calipers and force new brake fluid through them with the new master cylinder. Just like you were bleeding the brakes but without letting the fluid actually get to the brakes.

Compressor works good but you can have moisture in the compressed air if you don't have a dryer. I prefer to gravity bleed some brake fluid through.

I took a 1 gallon pump up garden sprayer, cut the wand in half and added a hose and connected to an old MC cover I fitted with a brass fitting. Poured in a couple of bottles of new brake fluid, pumped up the sprayer and began cracking all the fittings / bleeders and pumped fresh fluid thru everything to a catch jug until everything ran clean. Started at fittings closest to MC and worked back (just opposite of bleeding). Took a whopping 20 minutes to do with the sprayer rig (which I bought at True Value for $12.99).

Used this rig to bleed my new Disc brake conversion, also. Worked like a champ.....

I'll give that a try. I was thinking about pumping fresh fluid through using the new master cylinder, but the spray tank method sounds more efficient and easier.

I`d just use the existing Master Cylinder going through the motions of "bleeding" the lines. Just losen the bleeder valves and place a clear hose over them and bleed into a clear container where you can monitor the fluid color and top off the master cylinder as needed.

Personally, I wouldn't have the brake lines connected to the calipers until you got done flushing the lines.
