Thats one of the reasons I DO NOT FLY. The other is the hassle at the airports. Besides, if you think thats wild go spend 2 years on the flight deck of an aircraft carrier { USS MIDWAY 1976-1978, purple shirt}. Thats the 3rd reason I don't fly besides the fact God didn't give me wings.....ANIMAL :D

I liked the Boeing 747 landing, seen from the rear, the best. Those wings were just flapping away! Even though Boeings are known for flexible wings, its almost scary to look at them move like that!

A few of those clips were not from Wellington, though. I have seen them elsewhere. The 767 clips, in particular, I believe were taken during maximum crosswind landing testing by Boeing during aircraft certification.

Its still a good reason not to fly. After 2 years on the deck and a year working in the flight path at DFW Airport in Dallas { the planes were close enough to read Good Year on the tires, used to tease the "not so bright ones" that I could see the stewardes's pantys. Even had a couple looking,,,LOL} I've had enough planes. I'll stay on the ground {and water} thank you.....ANIMAL :D

Yeah I know about the location issue, some of the landings were in Lisbon, half a world away. Still a neat vid though.

I think the actual NZ landings have the script on the tape "weather action...". The others are fillers

 They look like they are coming in about 20 degrees sideways!
And to think I used to want to visit New Zeeland.

The DC8 toward the beginning that kicks sideways just before touchdown is a UPS landing at Ontario, California (snow on mountaintop in background). Only about 10 miles from here. It is fighting the same Santa Ana winds that caused/cause our wildfires. I fly out of there a lot.

The light blue 747 late in the video is landing at the old Hong Kong Airport. You'd be amazed by how much deflection there is in a 747 wing. I would guess the wingtips go up about 8 ft. from rest to takeoff. It happens very quickly at rotation, blew my mind the first time I saw it

I did a bit more research into the airport at Wellington, NZ

First, the landings in the video taken at Wellington all have the script at the bottom. The others are Lisbon Portugal, and Old Hong Kong airport and a few others.

Second, Wellington's airport does make the most dangerous top 10 list. It occcupies the only piece of level ground and has water at both ends. As a single runway, it is subject to crosswinds, often severe.

Space is so tight it is edged by businesses and homes. In fact, the control tower is located on a suburban street flanked by other houses.

FWIW
