flywheel holder $179!

The mercury flywheel holder tool MER91-52344 costs $179CDN! Seems pricey? Do most people use the tool when threading in flywheel puller, or is there an alternative? Would an auto tool supplier have a similar (and less costly) tool? I am working on various mercury 3 cyl outboards 70-90HP from 1987-1996.

If you are a boat mechanic, I would buy the tool (it costs $160 US from what I found- hard to find tool). A snap wrench would also help (needs to cover about 10 1/2" diameter- circumference =pi x diamter.) Otherwise a block of wood or something similar will do the job, esp. if you have a helper holding it while you turn the flywheel bolt). It seemed like too much money for me to spend on a marginally necessary tool.
