We installed the flywheel housing on a new engine (housing and all other parts from a mercuriser1987 305 230 model alpha one). We were surprised that the dowel pins don't locate the housing at all, there is about an 1/16" gap. Is this nothing to worry about or is there special tools to line it up with?
If the housing gets mounted too high or low (since there is space in the bolts), wouldn't that affect the alignment?
