Hello, i have a 1985 2.5 liter sea drive. had two of the magnets come off of the flywheel and recently had them re-epoxied. My mechanic is on vacation for a few weeks, and i really don't want to wait for him to come back for something little like this. Does anyone know what the torque on the flywheel nut should be? Is there anything special to watch for when reinstalling the flywheel? Thanks for any assistance you can give.

Steve

The manual for my 1992 100hp Johnson V-4 says to tighten the flywheel nut to 140 ft lbs.

What size is the nut. 1 5/16 nut is 140-150 foot lbs.

It's the 1 5/16 nut. The mechanic here said "just really tight," so i called around to a few different places and one said 135-140, so i tightened it down to 140. Unfortunately that must not have been the only problem because i still have one dead cylinder bank. thanks for the info though.

Steve

Were the magnets installed correctly, they can be installed backwards.

actually they were installed backwards the first time and i made them tear it apart and do it again. I don't know how they got it screwed up, the magnets had a little champfer on one end. I switched powerpacks from side to side and the same bank stays dead, so i gues i will look at the trigger/ stator when my mechanic gets back from vacation. I don't have a meter, so i have to use his. Is there anything else i should be looking at?

I would check the stator output first.
