Hello,
A guy near me has a 1976 85 hp Johnson that has a flywheel that won't turn by hand but someone told him it could be freed up with some wd40. Any thoughts? Is the motor seized up and any chance of starting it basically a zero? He is selling it for parts and I have a similar motor. Just wondering if there is any chance of getting his started.
thanks

If the lower unit is locked up, you could remove it and then try to see if the flywheel turns by hand.

Agree with the above. The L/U could be locked up.

I'm not very motor savy, rebuilt 3 or 4 cards and simple stuff, but if the lower unit is locked up what am I getting into. I'm messing with the idea of trying to get this motor running. thanks for the help everyone.

Its no harder than rebuilding carbs, but if you want some beers from him you could pretend it is.
Just make sure you disconnect the shift shift first
