I've posted this question on the Johnson/Evinrude forum last week ... but no one seems to be able to answer it ... so I'm going to try it here!

I have a 1996 9.9hp Evinrude 4-stroke .... which I believe was manufactured for OMC by Suzuki. I need to pull the flywheel to replace it, and I need to know the bolt size for the 3 holes in the flywheel. I've tried all 4 of the following sizes, but none of them seem to be the correct ones ... and I don't want to screw up the threads by forcing the wrong ones into the threaded holes!

5/16"-18 (SAE coarse)
5/16"-24 (SAE fine)
M8-1.25 (Metric coarse)
M8-1.00 (Metric fine)

Anyone here got the answer?

Re: Flywheel Puller Bolt Question

I called Evinrude customer service this morning, and got hold of a very nice guy who spent probably 10 minutes looking for the answer to my question ... but couldn't help me!

I went to the local community college yesterday where they have a marine school ... but no luck there either.

It just can't be that hard of a question to answer ... surely someone has pulled the flywheel off a 9.9 Suzuki 4-stroke motor before??!!
