1/4-20 too small goes right in the hole missing the threads.. 5/16-18 too big, can start to thread it but it feels REAL TIGHT and i'm afraid of stripping it.

Are the pulling holes possibly metric?

Any Ideas?

Thanks!

Pretty certain it's 5/16-24. If it isn't 18, it's 24. Absolutly NOT metric or off breed. Warning--use Grade 8 bolts unless you like to remove busted bolts.

Got the flywheel off with what I had, only screwed em in about 1/4", but they weren't the right size I could tell, but the flywheel came off damn easy with a sweet *POP*.

I'll get a set of 5/16-24 tomorrow and see if I did much damage to the threads from using the 18's.

Points were bad pitted, could not see spark on either. Took the points off and emory boarded em and stuck em back in, now sparks on 1 set (the far set in the series) turning the flywheel nut with a socket but no sign of spark from the other.

It can't be a ground problem because the far set sparks, so looks like I'm picking up a set of points tomorrow from the marine store. and a condenser too I guess.

Thanks for all the help guys! I smell Ignition sometime tomorrow!
