flywheel question

on my flywheel there is a Mark for TDC then to the left and right of that there are the degree marks, my book says engine timing is 18 BTDC is that right or left of TDC? THANK YOU i am trying to set the static timing

your f/w turns in a clockwise direction looking down on it..so this would be prior to this tdc mark lining up with whatever mark/pointer your engine uses as a reference
