Hey guys, i'm going to be pulling the flywheel from my 82 merc 25HP soon, but have a few questions. Is it necessary to mark my flywheel to ensure timing is'nt affected? Isn't it keyed to the crank shaft? Wouldnt that make it impossible to install improperly? Appreciate any thoughts. Flywheel is coming off so I can take a look at the stator and trigger, got weak spark. Thanks,
Matt

Re: flywheel removal

Yes and the key must be in perfect shape to ensure proper timing. If it has any marks on it where the flywheel tried to turn after the prop stopped....like hitting a bad underwater obstacle, then get a new one.
