1996 Four Winns Sundowner Volvo-Penta 5.0 Ford engine SX drive. Engine Model 50FAPNCA. Transom 3868175. Drive 3868388
The ring gear on the flywheel has broken teeth and I am about to pull the engine out to replace it. My questions are:
1) can this ring gear be pressed off and replaced and if so can I get this at a local automotive parts store.
2) What parts are needed (gaskets, orings, etc) to do this job.
This is my first experience at pulling a boat engine but have done a few car engines. I do have some more experienced help but neither are familiar with the somehwat rare Ford engine. I have a Sealoc manual but a link to the correct service manual archived here would also be much appreciated.
Thanks for your help.

That's a link to a downloadable pdf file for your engine manual. It covers everything you need for pulling/installing engine. You'll also have to pull your drive. Not sure if you are familiar with that as well.

That's a link to a pdf of your drive. It covers pretty much all you need for it. They are both Volvo service manuals.

I had to pull my engine 95 Ford 5.0 a few years ago to replace the transom, and it was fairly easy. Didn't have to do any engine work, so sorry no help there, although I thought the ring was bolted onto the flywheel (the manual will cover it though).

That's a pdf for your fuel system. All these were uploaded by the late DonS.

Ayuh,.... Welcome Aboard,..... Beat the ole ring gear off with a hammer, 'n drift,....

Heat the new ring gear ya get from yer local parts house up to say 500? in yer oven or on the grill,....
With gloves, drop it onto the room temp, well cleaned flywheel, 'n leave it be for 'bout 5 or 10 minutes, then reinstall it, 'n Go Boatin',....

I'd check the exhaust manifold for sign of leaking internally while its out. Why did the teeth break? Is it just worn? Did this happen suddenly?
